When it comes to fame, no one has done it quite like Robert Downey Jr. This acclaimed actor has spent his life in the spotlight, and in the last few decades we’ve seen him fall down to the depths of drug addiction and rise like the phoenix with a new, sparkling movie career. The man has a lot to say about life, and he offers plenty of wisdom when he talks.
1. “At the end of the day, anything I think I’m sacrificing I’m just giving up because it makes me feel better.”
From falling apart on the set of Ally McBeal to climbing the heights as Iron Man, Downey knows all about sacrifice and self-improvement.
2. “I think it’s miraculous that anybody survives themselves.”
Coming from a man who did coke with his own father and Jack Nicholson, this is an impressive and important observation.]
3. “Look, even if I don’t get [an Oscar] directly, eventually they’re just going to have to give me one when I get old. So no matter how you slice it, I’m getting one.”
Downey’s just one of many talented stars without an Oscar. Here, he shows us that good things come to those who wait, and that confidence is never misplaced.
