Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are related by marriage. Peter is married to Jake’s sister Maggie – does that count?
Jake was predestined to be an actor: his mother and father are producer/screenwriter Naomi Foner and director Stephen Gyllenhaal.
And as if this wasn’t enough, he is also the brother of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, who played his sister in Donnie Darko and continues to have a successful movie career.
Now, the icing on the cake: his godmother is actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
Peter Sarsgaard, best known for his portrayal of Charles Lane in Shattered Glass, married Maggie on May 2, 2009, in a small ceremony in Brindisi, Italy.
They have two daughters, Ramona and Gloria Ray, and live in Brooklyn, New York.
An interesting fact about Maggie Gyllenhaal is that Maggie is not her real name, and she didn’t even know it!
The name on Maggie Gyllenhaal’s birth certificate is Margolit, which she did not discover until 2013 when she officially changed it to “Maggie.”
