11. Jason Momoa

From Conan the Barbarian to Games Of Thrones’ Khal Drogo, Jason is hugely different than his brutal characters. He actually likes to surf, meditate and do yoga.

On November 15, 2008, unlucky Momoa was hit in the face with a broken beer glass at the Birds Cafe, in Hollywood, California.

He received around 140 stitches during reconstructive surgery, and his scars are visible in his later work.

Being an art lover and a spiritualist, Momoa traveled a lot as a young adult and took up pastel painting in Paris. He also studied Buddha teachings in Tibet, but eventually, he returned to the Hawaiian Islands to attend college.

He was born as an only child in Honolulu, Hawaii, as the son of Coni, a photographer, and Joseph Momoa, a painter.

He was raised in Norwalk, Iowa, by his mother. His father is of Native Hawaiian descent, while his mother is of German, Irish, and Native American ancestry. That’s where he got his piercing looks!

He recalls, “I was 19 and folding T-shirts in a surf shop. And I got chosen out of 1,300 people to play a leading role on ‘Baywatch Hawaii’. I didn’t even know how to act. It took me five years to get an agent after [that]. No one would take me seriously after ‘Baywatch’. I lived in the shadow of that for a long time.”

Momoa is frequently portraying warriors. One of them is Ronon Dex in the science fiction television series “StarGate: Atlantis”. He played Conan in the 2011 reboot of “Conan The Barbarian” and Khal Drogo in the HBO drama television series “Game of Thrones”.
