After kicking Tom to the curb, Katie moved into the beautiful Mercantile Building in Manhattan, even though the former couple owns an 8,113 square-foot apartment in Greenwich Village that they purchased back in 2009 for $15 million. Katie probably just didn’t like it and wanted a place that wouldn’t remind her of her crazy ex-husband. She picked a fancy (and expensive) place, we’ll give her that!
But it turned out that Holmes wasn’t the first celebrity to move into the 21-floor, 354-unit building featuring doorman, valet, and concierge services as well as a 10,000-square-foot landscaped roof deck, fitness center, a child’s play room and an on-site Whole Foods. Lance Bass actually purchased a 1,300-square-foot condo for $1.495 million, and designer Marc Jacobs rented a three-bedroom apartment there in 2009 for $15,000 a month. That same apartment was then rented by Nick Jonas for $20,000 a month during the time he starred in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
