3. Russell Tovey
Being Human star Russel Tovey is one of the most talented and promising English actors of his generation, and even though he has won the hearts of many ladies and gentlemen, Russell is deeply in love with his long-term boyfriend.
Nowadays, he is a role model to younger people, but things weren’t always so bright for him. Tovey came out to his parents when he was 18, but his father was unwilling to accept the fact that his son was gay and even said that he would have taken Russell to see a doctor and take medication if he had known about his son’s sexual preference earlier.
His folks also believed that he would certainly contract HIV and die a horrible death. They have since come to terms with Russell’s sexuality and are very much proud of him. Here’s what Tovey said about his childhood:
“The only thing I can give to young gay people is that when I was growing up there were no role models that were blokey, that were men. Everybody was flamboyant and camp, and I remember going, ‘That’s not me, so even though I think I am gay, I don’t think I fit into this world’.”
