3. Jodie Foster

Award-winning actress Jodie Foster finally put the rumors to rest when she officially came out of the closet during a 7-minute acceptance speech during the 70th Golden Globe Awards while accepting the Cecil B DeMille, a lifetime achievement award.

After being introduced by handsome Robert Downey Jr., Foster said, “While I’m here being all confessional, I just have the sudden urge to say something I’ve never been able to air in public. A declaration that I’m a little nervous about. Not quite as nervous as my publicist, huh, Jennifer? But uh, you know, I’m just going to put it out there. Loud and proud. I’m going to need your support. I am — single!”

She then noted in a rather serious tone, “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the Stone Age. In those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends, and family, coworkers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew her.”

In December 2007, Foster cracked the closet door open just a little bit when she thanked her “beautiful Cydney”  during an acceptance speech for the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast.

Even though her sexuality changed for some people, we already knew she was gay.

Now we all have just one fear – is she going to retire? She denies all claims and advocates, “I could never stop acting. You’d have to drag me behind a team of horses. I’d like to be directing tomorrow. I’m more into it than I have ever been.”
