Parker Posey, aka “Queen of the Indies”, has a twin brother Christopher, aka, Chris Posey who practices law in Atlanta.

They were born in Baltimore, Maryland. Their mother, Lynda, is a chef, and their father, Chris is the owner of a local Chevrolet dealership. Parker got her name after a 1950s model and sometimes actress, Suzy Parker. Parker had her public debut back in 2001. She learned to play mandolin for her role in A Mighty Wind where she also sang. Her Ex-boyfriend, Ryan Adams also used her voice several times on his records.

This different kind of beauty with the ability to portray the comically bizarre, Parker Posey has been repeatedly referred to as “The Queen of the Indies.” After her indie debut in Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused in 1993, Posey went on to star in 15 independent features in the next five years, proving again how worthy she was of her royal title.

Posey is interested in independent films. In 2006, she stared the self-titled role from 1997’s hit Henry Fool. Her career was often balanced with other projects, such as Boston Legal’s Marlene Stanger character, which earned her a wider audience. The year after her Boston Legal debut, she appeared in Jessica Alba’s thriller The Eye and in the indie drama Broken English. She has a song named after her, written by “apocalyptic folk artist” Stuart Davis. The song appeared on Davis’s album inn 2006.

She attended college at SUNY at Purchase together with Wesley Snipes and the two later worked on Blade: Trinity sequel.

She once said:“Being an indie queen, people think I have all these choices. Like I’ve just been sitting around waiting for the best indie film that I deem acceptable. There are a lot of independent films I’ve wanted to do that I haven’t been cast in. “
