20 Huge Celebrities Who Are Surprisingly Small

173764905

Some of the hugest celebrities in “la la land” have a huge following. They’ve made massive blockbuster movies, and some of them even have egos to match.

But when it comes to physical height they are surprisingly short. “I thought he would be taller in the flesh” is often the first words muttered by anyone meeting some of these megastars for the first time.

According to statistics, the average European or American male is 5’10” tall, but not everybody is average.

1. Usher

He may look impressive as he struts his stuff across the stage but Usher is only 5’8”tall – perhaps it’s all done with spotlights and mirrors. Or we usually judge by their net worth.

Usher Terry Raymond IV is big because he was chosen one of Teen People magazine’s 21 Hottest Stars Under 21, in 1999.

He sold approximately 30 million albums globally, and his 5th album Confessions, released in 2004, was sold in over 1.1 million copies in its first week, making it the highest first-week total for an R&B album ever.

Even though he’ short, he portrayed a legendary fighter in Hands of Stone.

”You couldn’t find a more stylized boxer than Sugar Ray Leonard. He was an incredible motion guy, the way he moved around the ring, and I think my dancing will make it easier for me to pick up his moves.”

He continues: “I’ve been working on familiarizing myself with the ring, sparring and understanding how to move. He had such incredible discipline and was flashy and classy at the same time. I want to be as passionate and dedicated in preparing for this role as he was every time he stepped into the ring. It’s an incredible story to be told. The metaphor of determination and struggle is one we can all relate to,” he recalls.

5’8 short for a guy? LOOOOL. Average height for a guy in America is about 5’7, and 5’2 or 5’1 short for a girl? Average height for a girl in America is about 5’3, so in my completely honest opinion a guy isn’t considered short unless he is 5’6 or under, and a girl isn’t considered short unless she is 4’10 and under.

Average European and American male height is NOT 5-10 and never has been, it’s closer to 5-8 actually…slowly creeping up towards 5-9.

Radcliffe made 6 million pounds for playing Harry Potter? Uh… that’s way off. He made $39 million for just the final two films – which comes out to around $25 million with today’s exchange rate. (Unless this article is from 2007 or so.)

The reason many of these male actors are shorter than average is pretty logical: shorter actors line up better on screen with actresses. It would be much more difficult shooting a movie with a 6’3″ male lead and a 5’2″ female lead. A male of 5’8″ would look much more natural on camera with a shorter female.

This list could have included Tom Cruise, Keith Urban & Shania Twain – real celebrities, not the TV trash included in the “20” list.

Who the fuck wrote this shit? I’m 5’9″ and for my entire life people my height have been considered normal/average height. The only person I’ve ever heard (and repeatedly) call 5’8″ short is the douche that wrote these captions. People this height certainly don’t belong in a story titled “surprisingly small”.

  17. Joe Reed

    September 2, 2014 at 9:23 PM

I don’t think the author grasps the concept of an “average”. 2 to 3 inches taller and 2 to 3 inches shorter are not rare extreme anomalies of the average. They are part of the majority which makes up the bell curve of the average. I expected to see someone listed at 5’4″ on the from page, not someone well within the average. And I’m not clicking each tedious page reload just so you can get your ad revenue. Pages like this are ruining the internet.

When I see a man that’s 6 foot 5, and his partner is barely 5 feet tall, I think about what kind of sex life they have, because I’d imagine my favorite sex position and one of the best of all time, would be impossible for that couple to engage in.

Why is Shortie Tom Cruise NOT on the list at 5′ 6”. He has such a complex about being short, he always stands on a step above his lady friends to try and make him look tall. napoleon complex. I am 6′ 4” but don’t have a complex over it.

  20. windexsunday

5’8″ is not “surprisingly short”. Maybe short for a celebrity/actor but not short in general. Also, who is “surprised” that Woody Allen is short?

    • Maddy

      August 25, 2014 at 10:30 PM

5′ 8” is actually pretty tall for an actor- they’re easier to cast for a variety of roles, so that’s why so many are short. Definitely not surprising…

  22. Manfred Hideous

    August 11, 2014 at 3:09 PM

When did 5’8″ become short? Many of the male actors here were born in the 60’s and reached the average height for someone born in that generation.

  23. one size fitzgerald

    August 10, 2014 at 3:43 PM

Um…so what? is heightism the new bigotry? besides everyone knows that many actors are short people and the only reason it’s a surprise is because they try so hard to make people look taller in the movies. this is a bunch of nonsense. And I could have sworn the ad said “shockingly”
    small now its “surprisingly.”

You ladies like guys that are above average height? No problem, free country, y’know? I like women with at least a full B cup to an ample C. Flat chested women and those with enormous cartoon boobs: no thanks. And they can’t weigh more than me.

Average female height in the US is 5’4″, so all the women on this list are below average. Also, generally speaking–although there are exceptions–it explains why fashion models are required to be 5’7″ or taller.
Btw, the average height for males in the US is 5’9″1/2, so while those who are 5’8 are not ‘quite short’, they are below average.

    • The Master

      August 22, 2014 at 3:52 PM

Not for their age, the average height changes as new generations are born and we, as humans, keep getting taller.

    August 6, 2014 at 11:40 AM

Calling Kane West ‘quite short’ at a little Over 5’8″ is ridiculous. The average man in the USA is 5’9″. Does any media outlet edit anything published on the internet? Or do they just put junk articles out there for folks like me to bitch about and drive up comments 😛

You start out with Usher being 5’8″? That is not short, it’s average.
OK – you people are obviously high when you write these articles. The first 3 people were men who are 5’8″, which as I said, is not short – it’s average. Snooki and Kim Kardashian are NOT celebrities – they do nothing. Anywhere.

This article is absurd. The average height is now 5’9. Making any man between 5’8 and 5’10 average not “shockingly” small. Peter Dinklage is “shockingly” small. This is the type of article that paints an unrealistic image of what an attractive human should look like. Any woman who passed on Whalberg, Usher or MJ Fox because they were “too short” is probably married to a tall guy who currently cheating on her with a slightly less shallow woman.

  75. FREAK

Not surprised at all. Most celebrities are short as dwarves, shorter than average. I accredit this to the same principle as small dogs; they bark, and bark, have little bite but get a lot of attention where as the norm for lager dogs is opposite. Thus the big dog sits quietly alone digging the ground while the miniature poodle eats grey poupon and fillet mignon. One more reason to hate the rich and famous, and small dogs!

I don’t care what the average height is for a man wether it is 5’10 or what other polls have said 6′. Just because you are shorter then the average height doesn’t mean your short that is bulls***. If you are 5’7 and up you are tall, after all the average height of a girl is 5’4 and a great deal of women are shorter then that yet. What I have seen is that you most girls will overlook the fact that he isn’t 5’10. You really shouldn’t be complaining, I bet you are still getting your portion of women, be happy your not me or guys like me. I am slightly shorter then 5’2 and all I get is bad looks from women like I am not worthy to be near them and that I don’t deserve them. I also get a lot of bad comments and laughing at me for just trying. You women who do insist that a guy has to be a certain height then your not only judgemental and shallow but your also mean cause you could be passing on a great guy just because he’s not tall enough for you. B****, what are we short guys suppose to do we can’t make yourself taller. You women are hypocrites, you claim that your looking for love but then you make requirements on whom should you be with. I know you want to say that we insist that women to be beautiful but that’s not really true, yes there’s a large amount of men who think women should be beautiful but they don’t know what is beautiful. The saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder is so true because, some guys like the tall girls, some guys like the overweight girls, some guys like the nerdy girls, then there are the guys that like combinations like tall and chunky or short and chubby or short and skinny, but to these men those types are 10s. There is no such thing as a 10. I have also noticed that a great deal of men are not really judging women on their breasts size anymore. We’re mostly into your ass more now. I have seen some of the less attractive and small breasted women getting a lot of men.

The tiniest star’s I’ve ever seen in person were Tom Cruise who was jockey small man and Robert DeNiro(who I think is the bomb) I could not recognize him(he was filming “A Bronx Story” nearby)when he and several women friends of his walked into me asking where was a good place to eat(the young lady I was with was just agape, but I was blank because of his height)He was waring a fantastic silver/grey sharkskin suit and the 2 ladies had huge bee-hive hairdo’s,must have been 2 feet high, After he went his way and everyone was asking me why/what he talked to me about? I was crushed by missing the opportunity to tell him how much I thought of his work(probably for the better). Earlier in my NYC days I met Morgan Fairchild on the street(she dressed just like she did on her TV appearances where as Shelly Long who was huge into “Cheers” than was completely unrecognizable from her TV show appearance(plain Jane) seemed to me that a lot of women in acting were taller than average whereas many actors(male) especially TV, movie, are shorter than average.

This list has no credibility to it. You have to no talent skanks like Snookie & Kim Kardashian while leaving out one of America’s finest actors in Al Pacino. You also left out Anna Paquin.

Sigh. When are websites, people and pretty much the whole world going to stop revering child-molesting garbage like Woody Allen? It just leaves a sour taste in my mouth when anyone ignores the sexual assault he carried out on his own daughter and instead we want to praise his accolades. It’s just disgusting.

You forgot to mention that Woody Allan is a child molester! He was having sex with his girlfriends daughter while playing the part of “dad” to her and the rest of Mia’s children! Not a nice guy at all, just rich and untouchable!

All you have to do is watch some of these actors like Michael J. Fox on camera to realize he is short. He doesn’t try to hide it, and neither do most of the others. When I was a kid, I heard than the actor Alan Ladd (5’6″) had to stand on boxes to be face to face with other male actors, and even sometimes to kiss the leading lady.
From what I’ve read, the average American adult male is 5’10.” The statistics that say 5’8″ is average include teenage boys not yet fully grown, and elderly males, who have lost height with age.

    • Jerseysmelltours

      May 4, 2014 at 5:56 AM

I don’t think it short or considered short by most of us this is a point of contention with stars who can and need to control their image. This seems to be a huge point for action, macho, stars they are usually made to seem taller than they are in their films and try to hide their real height when outside in public. That’s why it’s so weird. Before these guys became huge stars they probably had no issue with their height. This is why stars are stars are different than regular folks.

    April 28, 2014 at 9:16 AM

I’ve never considered a woman’s height to be of much importance at all; it’s women who value height in a mate, and surprisingly, they believe that men want taller female partners, which I have not been able to confirm with any of my male friends, we just want pretty girlfriends, we don’t really care if she’s short or tall.

    April 25, 2014 at 2:45 PM

Sadowolf, the average height of the American male is 5’9-1/2 inches.
Some of these celebrities are misrepresenting their heights. Kardashian is more likely to be 5′ or 5’1; not over the 5’2 she claims. Ditto Dustin Hoffman, one of the smallest men in Hollywood who can’t be over 5’3, if that.
Where was Jennifer Lopez, another shortie?

Now if the Jolly Green Giant was being played by a 4’10” female, it would be a surprise. 178. 808independent

    March 8, 2014 at 5:49 AM

5’8″ is not short. You figure with most shoes, especially dress shoes, you might even come up an inch or two and appear 5′ 10″. And then at 5′ 10″ you are only two inches from 6 feet tall, which is a very respectable height. If a woman won’t date a man because of “two inches” she isn’t worth having, and no matter most women walk around in shoes that give them 4-6 inches additional height, so by wearing heels, many women are making themselves much taller and making the pool of available men seem shorter. It is ridiculous to exclude people because of a couple inches.

I ‘m talking about Europe, northern Euope even.
My partner is 6 foot 2 and he doesn’t think he is that tall. He was
never the tallest anywhere he went and he has taller friends so it’s all
relative but personally I think a man isn’t tall under 6 foot 1. 5 foot
11 has become average in Northern Europe for guys so 6 foot is just above average.

I’m 31 – 5′ 6″ – so many women that are impartial to height out there to be obsessing over it guys. And anyway, uh, people have every right to choose who they want to be with. Be it short, tall, fat or skinny. . . some people like peanut butter, some people don’t. each to his own – right? Also, I might add, I had a gf who was 4 inches taller than I was. We were together for 4 years before we got married. First day I met her though, she pretty much didn’t even know I existed. As we got to know each other, she did tell me she was naturally attracted to tall men and that she was a little uncomfortable at first because all she ever dated were guys her height or taller and was worried her friends would laugh. She said that after a while she started to notice me (the person) and became attracted to me. So she said “fuck it” because it was absurd to worry about such a petty issue and that any person who would laugh at that was a complete moron.

As a 5’11” woman I have had to deal with the comments all my life as well as the prejudice. ” Are you a Amazon Woman? Are you a basketball player? Just how tall are you? My god you are tall! You are very pretty, BUT you are so tall!”Add to that the clothes never fit correctly, if you wear high heels or stilettos you become freakishly tall , so they are off limit. It’s all great if you are a model or a basketball player. But in the real world or dating world it sucks. I don’t live in a big city and even our nearest one is relatively small. Imagine that when you go out to a social event, that you a woman are 9 times out of 10 the tallest person in the room.

A girl broke it off with me once because she thought I was short, she was 5′ 8″. She married a taller guy 6’2″, looking for the same juice she had with me, got sorely disappointed. Stupid enough to tell Mr. 6’2″ how good she had it with me. Oh well, I’m married to a 6 footer beauty and she’s a bitter divorcee. I don’t think tall people are made with enough chutzpah!

I’m 5′ 7″ pushing 5′ 8″ (yoga spine stretching). I hope I don’t get any taller because taller people don’t age well, and when they do, don’t live too long.

To label 5’8″ tall for a male short is the height of American arrogance. In most countries of the world people are from 4′ 11″ – 5’6″. Using American/ European standards of height is using a minority.

The average height of a man in the US is about 5’8″ or 5’9″. So how is Kanye “quite short”? Height varies across the globe. Chinese men are usually around 5’7″ ish, Filipinos around 5’4″. And “average” means half will be shorter, half taller. We’re surprised at that?

others have pointed out, it was the US average for a long time, but in
recent years it’s been creeping upward, to 5ft 9in for the population as
a whole, and 5ft 10in for younger folks. (Of course, if you’re talking

All of this is a bunch of b*llshit!! In this country we know your height doesn’t matter but the size of your bank account does sad to say. You have these so called “INDEPENDENT” women who say they wont date a man this height or that weight etc. But let him have a little dough and that shit changes quickly. Think I’m lying. How do you explain the fact that Tom Cruise, Lil Bow-Wow, Lil Wayne, Jermain Dupri ,Usher, Jamie Foxx, T.I., Simon Cowell, Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, Ludacris, Nelly.. shall I go on?. Most of the men on this list ,in entertainment and in this article are well under 5-11. But they have managed to bang or get with some of the most beautiful ,sexiest women in Hollywood and even beautiful women who are not famous. So GTFOH with that crap about height. We know its all about money…lets be real..Lil Wayne and Jermain Dupri aren’t the cutest brothers and if they worked at UPS or Wal-Mart do you think they would be getting all these women?……lol!! But as these women get older and lose all of the shallowness and pettiness they quickly learn that character and how the person is on the inside is most important. Besides most of these women are short as hell..thats why they cheat and wear heels. The average American woman is short as hell…..WE KNOW FOR A FACT THAT NOT ALL OF YALL ARE 5-10 AND MODEL MATERIAL LIKE TYRA BANKS…..So kill it with the short crap..lol.

Dude you have a point those women they hitting wit’ are whores. Society reacts to us in certain unconscious ways when it comes to height, weight, our general way we carry ourselves. We can deny that we are effected but that’s called a lie. When we react in a way that society/evolution or whatever does we are being true/real humans we need to restructure our behavior but it’s a human behavior. The behavior you call on is considered real/true but very negative on the person acting that way.

Short women that wear high heels can make up the difference to a great extent about their height and at the same time look sexy. Even the former North Korean Leader wore high platform shoes. So the short people both men and women are aware how people frown upon them for no good reason and they will do whatever there is to do to make it up. 5″ 11″ is not “tall” – just a speck over average.

The beautiful Scarlett Johansson is 5′ 3″ … sometimes I wonder if the petite have advantages when it comes to movie stardom, if they’re proportionate they can look great, and maybe their heads are slightly bigger, in comparison to their bodies – and people say movie stars often have (literally) giant heads.

    February 4, 2014 at 2:05 AM

Size obsession is pretty much an American thing, which goes away when women reach their mid-30s. Some women who spend their 20s chasing behind 3% of the male population, the same 3% the other 20s somethings are also chasing behind. Unfortunately, when these women decide to look for all of the stuff that really matters, like love for example, the 5’8″ supposedly short guys aren’t interested in retreads.

Only Americans think that bigger is better, …. whether its hummers or presidents 🙂

A bigger man is simply a bigger target, easier to shoot. Tall people also usually suffer from more ailments as they get older compared to short (or right-sized) people.

This article implies that these celebrities are too short to be famous. Is it any wonder that USA has dum b-tall presidents, while the rest of the world has presidents of all sizes? Our height is a result of genetics and childhood stress/nutrition. Tall people are usually dum ber because they were not stressed during childhood, and thus didn’t have to smarten up.

I never understood the argument that women prefer taller men because height is an objectively superior trait. If that were true, more tall men would like tall women. Who we are attracted to is based on our experiences growing up and not necessarily genetic superiority.

Your remarks re. “only Americans think that bigger is better” is to a certain point and extent correct. And I for one won’t dismiss your statement which on the face of it is true, but I frown upon the international community that calls us “the ugly American”, because America is diverse and just as there are fools that remark recklessly, there are smart ones that argue to nullify the incorrect attitude statement. And that is why America is so great. That we can argue an known un-truth (false) or attitudes that invade upon us whether it be re some speech, our bodies or our privacy. See how interesting it is to see Americans defend their point of view to restore what is clutched by the NSA of what belongs to them. “We never give up” is our catch words and rightly described by President George Bush, “We will never forget”. And that is an American Promise.

if the average white American man is 5 foot 10, and Usher and
Wahlberg are only 5 foot eight, then they are only two inches, a little
    less than 3%, below average.

i certainly wouldn’t call that “surprisingly” small.

and i happen to be six foot three, so i’m not defending my own ego.

it seems rather like President Eisenhower, who was, supposedly, so
concerned about the fact that 50% of Americans had below average IQ’s.

newsflash, folks, 50% of men are below average in height, and that
includes, surely, a large number, doubtless way more than merely 20,
    well known entertainers.

what’s should seem surprising is that way more than 50% of online stories are down right stupid.

    • ....

      February 11, 2014 at 4:09 AM

Eisenhower must have been in that lower 50% to not understand that in order to have an average at least 50% would be below that number and 50% above (give or take a few at precisely that number).

I glanced at and got several looks from many women. Did y’all see the article where the average male height in the USA is not keeping up with the Netherlands? Keeping up with the dating websites is not my 75%.

First and foremost: 5’8 is average Height for guys. Why are some women so shallow. I’m 5’8 ,met women who are 5/1 but they prefer guys that are 6 ft and above? Because they wear hells for a few hrs when going out but would spend more time with a man with them off? Short to me is Kevin Hart, Kirk Franklin, Musiq Soulchild and Jermain Dupree. Average is 5’7-5’11. No wonder they can’t find a Man. They are using the same silly judgement on what he should look like. Not every women has a big but or boobs but I will still date a cutie.

I’m 5’8 and most of the guys I work with are about my size. Some might be 5’9 or 10. So I would call it average. And when I was 25 at 5’8 and 160 pounds. There weren’t many guys I’ve met who could physically out work me. And that includes 6 foot plus and 220 and people that worked out. Until I started pushing 40. I had a job hand-setting concrete forms that weighed over 100 pounds. My crew could set a wall and pour and strip it and load them on a flatbed truck in the blink of an eye. I was putting tons over my head on a daily basis. It was nothing to pick up and carry 250 pounds all day long.

Wow, how sadly superficial these women are. Average height has changed over time. In 1960, it was around 5’8″ for a man. As of 2002 it was 5’9.5″. It may well be 5’10” now. Assuming you actually care about such things, I think you need to consider when folks were born.

I’m 5’7″ and I was born in 1967. That’s slightly under average for the time. Dustin Hoffman is 5’6″, but he was born in 1937. It might be short by today’s standards, but not for the time he was born.

      • Krista

        February 5, 2014 at 7:01 AM

If one is of European descent, than 5’6″ for one born in 1937 was considered short back then.

So true. The Police chief that he got tangled with and his boss from the war front both were taller than Sylvester Stallone theoretically speaking (you see they are both taller) but when you see him with the guerrilla paint marked on his face, the wrap around his forehead and the fighting gear he (Stallone) looked taller than anybody there in the movie. So to make the long story short it is the personality of the individual that matters most.

Average height keeps rising – my guess is the true average for men has reached 5’9″ – but in the mind of the collective (aka society) that is “short” – sad but true. If you are a single guy and have looked at any of the online dating websites you’ve probably noticed 80-90% of women list their preferred height in a partner to be be over 5’10” – and a disappointing number – probably half – have that as a requirement – whether they admit it or not.

I’m 6′ (woman). Most of the men I’ve dated have been 6’4″ and over or between 5’8″ and 6′. I’ve been under the impression that men in the mid-range (6′ to 6’3″) were uncomfortable with the idea of a woman being taller than them. I think that being tall is such a big part of their identity and idea of their own masculinity that they can’t tolerate walking around with a woman who is eye-to-eye or even potentially taller in heels

        • Jeffrey Dorfman

          May 4, 2014 at 5:10 PM

I once dated (lasting over 6 months) a woman who was 6′ (in bare feet) and I’m 5’11”. On our first date, walking to a restaurant, she took my arm and we’re talking about normal ice braking things when she asked me if I minded being with a woman taller than me. I promptly said to her, “not at all, do you mind being with a shorter man?” She said no, but I could tell she wasn’t convinced. Then I said, “if I wasn’t proud to be with someone, I wouldn’t have made a date with them.” She felt better and I felt more comfortable and had a wonderful time for a long time. While waiting for our diner, we were still small talking and I asked her when her birthday was. She said it was in January. I asked what day. She said the 29th. I was half in shock, so I asked if she would mind if I could see her drivers license and she reached in her purse and gave it to me. Sure enough, it said January 29,1950. Now I really was amazed because I pulled out my license and showed her why I was so surprised. We both were born on the same day and year. Was that an omen or what!! After that, it was like we knew each other all our lives. So to prove, not all men are intimidated being with or marrying a woman taller than they are. Unless, of course, they are not comfortable in their own skin and have a disproportionate ego.

I think like a lot of Tall men you are troubled by some beliefs and hide behind your “Shortcomings” by hooking-up with “TINY” little, petite, women wouldn;t be surprised if they were Asian ladies. I don’t know if you are happy more power to you but I’d ask what’s in it for the little ladies? 14inches is a long way down.

Everyone has a right to their opinion BUT I hve dated very tall men tht hve ” child- size BRAINS ??? lol Their maturity & IQ LEVEL lacked & saddly they THOUGHT their HEIGHT would compensate for it?? Sadly, the HS or College “JOCK”, was considered to be the “BEST CATCH”, a girl cld get ? BUT did they hve the “BRAINS” to match? Lol! probly NOT! It was the smart “GEEKS”, short, possiby chubby or to skinny tht comes to school reunions LOADED WITH MONEY & CAN HOLD AN INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION! I cld judge TALL men or women based on their IQ’sThus “Judging” ALL people, based on their height, weight, race, etc. and inmaturely ” Labeling”, them? I hve men and lady friends of ALL heights, color and origin! I am a BEAUTIFULL & ALL of 5ft WOMAN & HAVE A WOMANS BODY ‘) If anyone wants to compare me to a child??? Lol I can BRAG & say, my physical WEIGHT cld compare and is 105 pounds! ‘) BUT unlike a child, I hve CURVES! If I want more height? Sexy high heels works! By the way, I married a man of shorter height with a MAN’S body! His TALL friends were very jealous BUT knew why their friend got ALL the girls..and it had NOTHING to do wth physical appearance..my husband hd a ” Heart of Gold” though he wasnt wealthy in the way of money and his GREATEST ASSET? He didnt JUDGE others by their physical appearance! ‘)

Another reason to NEVER JUDGE someone by their height, tall or short? In my case, the guote- ” You can often determine a persons ability of lovemaking by there excellent expertise on the dance floor” ? In my case it stood TRUE pertaining to my husband! ‘) That man had the “MOVES”!!!! He also hd many medals from HS wrestling lol We were married for 28 HOT loving years untill he passed in 2001 🙁 I remarried but it was short-lasted…we divorced but still friends. He was taller thn my first husband, COULDNT DANCE and it ” reflected” in the love dept NOT good!

You make a point. Our culture respects height in males not so much in females. Over a lifetime of working taller folks will likely see a more beneficial income and be seen in certain unconscious ways as being more dominate, intelligent and trustworthy maybe even tougher. It’ s probably some carryover from evolutional characteristics. We all know that isn’t true for it’s own sake but it is an unconscious benefit.

        • Jerseysmelltours

          May 4, 2014 at 5:01 AM

This always sounds like you are talking about your preferences here. Relationship experts point out it’ us who dictates who we draw-in or force-out, we have strong inner needs that we must fill more than we ever fully realize. Most men fear tall women it speaks strongly to our need to feel dominate(false as it maybe). Look how often we never see women driving the family car when we’re all together. So many tall men demand short, petite, tiny many are asian wee-ones it speaks to the male psyche the need to feel dominate.

5’10” tall : love all woman height preferences anywhere from 4’8″ to 6’2″ maybe more if the lady doesn’t mind the height deferential,So long as the lady is thin, slim, toned or average. My beautiful bride of 35 years Is 5′ tall an petite. Fell madly in love with her the first 30 seconds ,She carried her shelf with great Poise, Elegant s, class,Whoa she is and was a knock out. I love when she drives ,though she prefers for me to lead. I guess I’ve never consider my Masculinity threatened by any woman. No matter her height. Average height for a male in the Us 40 years plus ago was 5’9″ Not 5’8″ That was average for Latin america.

True than true unless that is one huge, endless seeming ocean.? Rhonda you may be the exception to the rule but one of the most painfully learned lessons that I had to gain was that an amazingly large number of women of my generation and probably a bigger number of young ladies now consider the size of the ship a very worthy and enthalling consideration. Nothing to lose sleep over. It’s probably a fad more than anything else. But it’s certainly fun a real personal level.

          March 10, 2014 at 5:14 AM

In my own experience I found out that your own height is usually irrelevant when it comes to decide how tall you would like a partner to be. You can be dead short and like a tall partner and that’s absolutely fine. I wouldn’t like it if we had to choose partners according to our own heights.

        • dragontech64

          March 10, 2014 at 10:52 AM

Nobody says we HAVE to choose based on height, the comment or more about how often very tall seems to attract rather short. I’ve seen it time and again. I know these couples truly loved each other, so their choices were obviously right, and a few couples I know that both are tall also fit that same description – just right.

        • Jeffrey Dorfman

Yes it does. There arn’t that many caring men around. You may or may not be one of them, but that is not all that a nice woman wants or needs. You may be caring, but not the type she is looking for in a life time relationship. Then again, you may be a caring man in your opinion, but not in hers. By the way, it worked out for me every time.

        • bobby bobby

          August 26, 2014 at 1:25 PM

That’s the common misconception. Bad boys aren’t necessarily mean to you. Mean guys who beat women and stuff aren’t bad boys they are little bitches. Also it’s not so much what a women wants it’s what they are attracted to, there’s a difference.

Bad boys are confident with them selves aren’t afraid to be their own man an live life on their terms. They also have an “edge” to them. They are the kind of guy who can stand on their own tow feet and don’t act like nerdy little pansies all the time like so many other guys do. They are the kind of guys most other guys think are douche bags or gay but women love. The best examples of bad boys are johnny depp, colin ferrel and more recently harry styles.

Hey we can’t change what we are attracted to. All I would say to you is if you have this superficial attraction, then you had better not be the type right to judge a man for being attracted to a fit girl with big boobs. For myself I will admit that fit girls with big boobs are attractive physically, but It is definitely not the most important thing I look for. I would rather have fit and small boobs, than out of shape with big boobs, but even that isn’t a deal breaker if I just really get a long with you

        • turretgunner

          May 6, 2014 at 12:05 PM

Speak for yourself. I look for far more than good looks in a woman. I have gone out with what some would consider beautiful women and I couldn’t wait for the evening to be over. of course, I’m attracted to attractive women, but do I dismiss someone as a potential date because they aren’t pretty enough? No, because I’m not 15 anymore. I’m looking for more than just eye candy. Frankly, I think that the fact that you would dismiss a man because he isn’t tall enough just reflects how shallow a person you are.

        April 28, 2014 at 9:14 AM

Maybe the influx of shorter people has decreased the average height; back in 1970, in the U.S. average height for a male was 5’10”, and 5’4″ for females, weight was 160 lbs for males, and 140 for females. However, I work in an area with very many immigrants, and they’re all well under the old averages in height, but higher in weight, so I’m not surprised at the new figures.

          May 4, 2014 at 6:29 PM

Sorry to say the average height of American males was slightly lower than 5’10” in 1970. If my memory serves me correctly, it was 5’8 1/2″. I am 5’11” and was over. 2″ taller than the average American male height. One more point. That survey also stated there was no such height as average. Figure that out !

I was quoting what was told to me from life insurance stats back when I purchased a policy from a friend in 1970. I do not know where Prudential gets it’s information, but as their income would decrease if they used incorrect stats to base their averages on, I would suppose that for America, they were probably pretty much on target.

Very truthful. Like most everything we as a people believe to be worth listing 98% lie straight-out: money earned, height, weight(recent not HS), sexual prowess, certain sexual measurements, complete boulder-dash)! That’s why I find so many inadequately equipped men(in their own mind since what we have in a god-given deal. Best to be OK with it other-wise). That’s why I find it so creepy with tall men who only date very short petite women(can you be anymore obvious about your believed sexual inadequacies). The boys used to call it the curse of the big man cause when the ladies found out “NOT” everything was in size proportion???

It is all so ridiculous. I am 5’8″ and in good shape, But because of my height I’m written off by many women before I can even say “Hi.”. No matter what I say or do, it doesn’t seem to matter because I’m “short,” a physical trait I can do nothing about. If I was wealthy, of course, it wouldn’t make any difference. I make a decent income (low six figures), but I am by no means, rich. And please no speeches about “how you see you see yourself is how others will see you.” When it comes to height, that is simply a load of crap.

But none of that’s relevant. The article claims these people are “surprisingly” small, when there is nothing the least bit surprising about a man being 5’8″ or a woman being 5’2″. Absent some specific rumor that the person in question is in fact much taller, these heights are eminently unsurprising.

The article claims that one woman’s height of 5’1″ is “unbelievable.” There’s nothing unbelievable about that. It’s wholly, entirely, 100% believable.

What? I’m 5’9 and I don’t have trouble finding clothes at all. I’ve dated men 5’8 and they didn’t seem short at all, then again I don’t care much about height. I like it when a shorter man is confident enough to ask me out!

I’m 5’9″ and my biggest problem is finding long-sleeved shirts with long enough sleeves, since the average woman is a few inches shorter and has proportionately shorter arms. More and more stores are offering women’s jeans in a variety of inseam lengths, I wish they’d do the same with sleeves!

Clothes at local stores are a bad rule for ‘average’ given thet also tend to think the average woman is fat free.

Best guess the ‘average’ woman’s height at least in the US is 5‘3″ to 5″5″ as far as clothes go. But the truth is that it’s probably more like 5’1″-5’3″ with way more butt and boobs than the shops think

Height, does in no way make a man; it is what is in a man and what he makes of it, this is mostly what a man is known by. My late husband was 5’8″ but he stood tall in every bodies sight. My son is 5’11 1/2, he too is a great man. The size makes not a bit of difference, unless you have huge ego, or put value in the wrong place.

Everyone who does it, please, please stop with the half inches. Whenever you hear that, whether the person is 4’10” or 6’11”, it always screams ‘insecurity’, like they feel like the even inch mark isn’t adequate, and it really overemphasizes the person’s belief of that, making it even more obvious that they feel they’re lacking in something because of their height.

Many men whose height was below what is considered average were great men and as you said, were tall in everyone’s eyes. Although we are talking about height in relationship to the opposite sex, I enjoyed your comment immensely. Average height for European and American males is still very much UNDER 5-10. It’s closer to 5-8.5 Furthermore, it is estimated that only one in five men is taller than 6′. Hence, 5-11 is tall, as is 5-10. For the stats to be what they are, the majority of American and European men have to be below 5-9…maybe 65%. This is something typical heterosexual women don’t understand. When they seek as mates only males who are 6-0 or taller they significantly reduce their chances of finding love and getting married.

Probably by the many members of the jockey club?. Seems to me our height real or imagined is tied to our general self-image and how we carry ourselves. Many top actors/print screen models aren’t basketball tall but their body image in their media give that impression, That’s why weight, or lack there of, means so much when being filmed/photographed. I’m 6-4 with a size 14 foot yet I’m very easy going people always see me smaller than I am. Height and general weight make such huge impressions on people. Look how rare to see a much taller women on the arm of a noticeably shorter man? I was always tall but very fit and thin when I took-up bodybuilding and 35 lbs people always saw me in a much more agressive way. I got in too 100% more real-hard-core street fights with out ever trying to.

Like a few other people said, average height keeps rising. It is probably 5’9 now for American males, and I would also say that it is slightly higher with both White and Black males, which is most of the guys on this list.

Also, you might have to check the average height of movie star celebs, because my sense is that they may be taller on average. Typically people in the public eye are taller. Taller people often have an easier time getting to that point. You see this to the extreme with US Presidents, where the average height throughout history is still 5’9″, even though that includes all the early presidents. All presidents after Carter have been 6 feet tall or more. Jimmy Carter was himself 5’9″ And in a fit of irony, George Washington was the third tallest president at above 6’2″.

If the average height in America for a male is 5″8 then Americans are really a nation of midgets.

From where I come from (a country in central Europe) the average height is at least 5’10 (178 cm) , probably 5″11 (180 cm). In the Balkans and in Northern Europe it’s even around 6 feet.

The figure of 5″8 (if correct, I doubt it) probably includes Hispanics which are much shorter than Whites.

When she takes off the 5” heels, he’s an inch taller than her.
