According to reports, BMX bike legend Dave Mirra has passed away at the age of 41. Mirra was known as one of the greatest BMX riders of all time and he holds the record for the most X Games medals won in the history of the competition.

Initial reports are saying that the cause of death was an apparent suicide. His body was found by police in Greenville, North Carolina. According to police, he was found in his truck with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot found to the head.

No one really saw it coming. On Thursday, he made an Instagram post, showing a picture of him and his wife, calling her “his rock.”

Mirra is known for being one of the best riders ever. He has several BMX biking video games named after him and was the host of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge for two seasons.
