The 81-year-old comedian Joan Rivers is in a medically induced coma at a hospital in New York, according to “Entertainment Tonight” co-host Nancy O’Dell.

She stopped breathing on Thursday during a routine throat surgery at a clinic on New York’s Upper East Side.

After going into cardiac arrest, Rivers is being treated at Mount Sinai hospital.

The queen of comedy appeared on Wednesday night in New York City at an event promoting her new book, and was supposed to perform in Red Bank, New Jersey on Friday.

“She’s a trailblazer. She’s everything that we want to bring to Red Bank and to our stage,” said theater operations Vice President Izzy Sackowitz. “We were close to being sold out.”

Apparently, the medical staff is going to bring Rivers out of the medically induced coma this weekend.

We hope Rivers will be all right, quoting Larry King’s tweet: “Go get ’em girl.”
