According to multiple reports, actor Anwan Glover, who portrays a gang member in the TV series ‘The Wire’, has been treated for a laceration after he was stabbed and kicked at a nightclub.
In a police report, which was obtained by The Washington Post, the actor told investigators he was at Cafe Asia early on Sunday, July 3 when an unknown person punched him and another person hit him on the head. He told police he was then hit repeatedly and felt sharp pain in his side.
The actor’s representative confirmed the incident to E! News, stating that the motive of the crime is still unknown. “He has no idea who did it or why,” the representative said.
Authorities say the star was treated for a laceration to the torso at George Washington University Hospital. His condition wasn’t disclosed at the time.
On Sunday, he took to his Instagram.com page to detail his version of the incident, which he said occurred while he was showing support to another local band. “I am not a stranger to adversity and when shown hate, I’m going to spread love,” Glover wrote. “I am recovering and will be back soon. My flesh may be stabbed but my spirit is unbreakable.”
Washington, D.C., CBS affiliate WUSA reports that the actor was shot several times in the past. Reportedly, his son was also shot in an incident involving his shoes.
The 41-year old actor, residing in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, most recently appeared in the Oscar-winning movie ‘12 Years a Slave’.
