Comedian Tracy Morgan, who was badly injured in a crash on June 7, has had his condition upgraded from critical to fair, according to his publicist.

Happy to pass along that Tracy has been upgraded to fair condition, which is a great improvement,” said publicist Lewis Kay.

“His personality is certainly starting to come back as well.

The comedian was severely injured after a Walmart truck hit a limo bus occupied by Morgan and four others on the New Jersey Turnpike. Unfortunately, the crash killed comedian James McNair and injured the others. Tracy was hospitalized with broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg, and a broken femur.

Another passenger in the limo, Jeff Millea, has also been upgraded to fair condition, according to Kay.

Kevin Roper, the truck driver, turned himself in to police the night of the accident and has pleaded not guilty to charges. Charges include vehicular homicide and assault by auto.

In a criminal complaint, police stated Kevin had been awake for more than 24 hours at the time of the crash.

Morgan was a regular on “Saturday Night Live” for seven years, and later also received an Emmy nomination for his role in the comedy series “30 Rock.”

In a 2010 PBS interview, Tracy said fame was the “worst drug known to mankind.” He said it led down the path of “partying and hanging out” and the split of his first marriage.

He was married for 21 years to his high school sweetheart, Sabina Morgan, mother of his three sons, Gitrid, Malcolm and Tracy Jr.

“I started to hurt even people that I love. I was changing and I’m glad that I caught it in time,” Morgan said.
