Unite4: Humanity Crowns Robert De Niro And Martin Scorsese

The inaugural Unite4:Humanity event, created by charity Unite4:good and Variety magazine, honored celebrated actor Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese for their exceptional humanitarian work in LA, Thursday 27 February.

The Wolf of Wall Street director was awarded the Variety Creative Conscience gong, while De Niro received the Creative Commitment to Film award. The night was hosted by former Saturday Night Live comedian Andy Samberg, who also walked away with the Keep Walking Award.

The Hollywood legends weren’t the only ones to be praised as other pop stars were also acknowledged for their humanitarian efforts.

Prolific musician Alicia Keys received the Music Visionary award, while Demi Lovato was awarded with the Young Luminary award, and Selena Gomez picked up the Young Humanitarian award.

Lovato also performed at the show, and later shared a picture of herself together with former president Bill Clinton, with the caption, “Too excited to filter this… No big deal – selfies with the prez…. Bill Clinton – so nice to meet you!!!!

Gomez too took to Twitter to celebrate, writing, “By far the coolest award I’ve received – Young Humanitarian award! Beyond proud to represent UNICEF since I was 17.”

Bill Clinton received the Unity Recognition Awards, while Philomena Lee (the inspiration behind the acclaimed movie Philomena) walked away with the Everyday Hero award
