Apart from explaining how he comes from a place where every season has its share of work, Jon Hamm made his living in the beginning by washing dishes in a restaurant. He claims it was “as minimum as it can get” in terms of low-paid jobs; it was a Greek restaurant called Spiro’s, and he remembers that the conditions were difficult – if you didn’t like something, you’d have to cope with it, no matter what it was.
But that’s not all. After he was done with washing dirty dishes he found a new job, and not a job you’d expect anyone to have, let alone Jon Hamm. He was working as a set dresser for pornographic movies, and apparently, he was very good at it. He explained to The Guardian that it was a good way to make ends meet but all changed for the better when his current girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt landed him a role.
