The sexy, flamboyant Latino singer has been one of the most popular performers in the world since he transitioned to English lyrics in the late 1990s. He probably became so successful because he decided to keep the bouncy, happy melodies of his exotic music, though. In 1999, his self-titled album sold 661,000 copies during the initial week, making it the most successful album debut on the Billboard charts made by a Hispanic artist.
The best part is that Ricky Martin isn’t just smiling for the camera – he’s actually a pretty nice guy. Martin is also openly gay, and the proud father of two. In 2010, Martin publicly announced that he’s proud to be a homosexual man and that he’s “very blessed” to be who he really is. He welcomed twins Valentino and Matteo via a surrogate mother in 2008, claiming that it’s exactly what he needed.
