The actor Michael Jace, best known for his role in the TV series The Shield, shot his wife April last month before calling his father-in-law to tell him what had happened, according to reports.

In a newly-released 911 call, April’s father told the dispatcher that Michael Jace shot and killed his daughter.

My son-in-law called me, and (texted) me, and said come get the kids because he shot April, our daughter.

The unfortunate man called the police while he was on his way to the couple’s home.  According to the audio material, the authorities had already been informed about the shooting.

Jace also called 911 after the killing, but that recording has not been released. He was arrested on May 19, 2014.

Jace’s lawyers Jason Sias and Jamon Hicks didn’t want to comment on the content of the 911 recording.

We have the utmost concern for the Jace children,” Sias and Hicks wrote. “Mr. Jace has a constitutional right to a defense. It remains extremely early and we are still in the fact-finding process.

The couple had two children, both of whom were present in the house during the shooting.  April had another son from a previous marriage and he was also there.

The family of April Jace called her death a ‘’senseless act of domestic violence.’’

We cannot reverse the senseless violence that resulted in April’s death but we can invest in the lives of her innocent children that are paying the price for it,’ the family wrote.

The police still haven’t determined the motive for the murder, but were investigating whether financial problems had something to do with the killing.  Namely, Jace filled for bankruptcy in 2011.
