Harold Ramis’ Twitter Flooded With Celebrity Tributes

Some of the greatest Hollywood stars have paid their tributes to Harold Ramis, who died today. Jon Favreau, Seth Macfarlane, Elijah Wood and Eli Roth were among the first to pay their tributes to the late actor.

The actor and director, best known for his role in Ghostbusters and his work on Groundhog Day, passed away today at the age of 69.

His Twitter account was flooded with emotive and touching messages.

No no not Harold Ramis. Worked for him years ago. He was the real deal. Growing up, his work changed my life. He will be missed”, tweeted Eli Roth, while Jon Favreau wrote, “Oh no, Harold Ramis died. One of my filmmaking heroes. Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day… So sad”.

MacFarlane, who created Family Guy, posted, “Harold Ramis was a brilliant, shining example for every comedy writer hoping to achieve excellence the field. He will be sorely missed.”

Actor Elijah Wood wrote, “awful news about Harold Ramis. very sad, indeed.”

Stephen Fry called Ramis a “comedy hero”, while Zach Braff added, “If you’re my age and got into comedy, Harold Ramis was one of the reasons. Life is fast and over too soon.”

Among other celebrities who paid their tributes were Eliza Dushku, Rashida Jones, Karate Kid star Ralph Macchio, Patton Oswalt, and Mark Hoppus from Blink-182.
