Katy Perry will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, according to The New York Post.

Page Six also reports negotiations are in progress for her to play at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show on Feb. 1.

A deal is being hammered out for Katy to play the Super Bowl.

The talented singer is a contender for the much desired slot, as well as Coldplay and Rihanna.  On ESPN, Perry said that she knows about a NFL scheme in which the league asks musicians to pay them in exchange for performing on the Super Bowl stage.

I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.

The halftime show is sponsored by Pepsi, which has previously worked with Perry to promote her film “Part of Me,” so their cooperation wouldn’t be a surprise.

Billboard has pointed out that Perry, who has 55.4 million Twitter followers, “has a big gap in her tour dates around the Super Bowl” and could very likely play the big stage.
