Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely one of the most nominated actors in history without a Best Actor Academy Award.

After his disappointment at the Oscars on Sunday, the forthcoming MTV Movie Awards 2014 might cheer him up. Namely, the Hollywood hunk has been nominated in six categories.

Among the top nominations, he’s up for Best Male Performance, Best Shirtless Performance and Best Onscreen Duo for his collaboration with Jonah Hill in The Wolf of Wall Street.

His con-artist stockbroker movie is nominated for eight titles, as well as American Hustle, which is one more than succeeding The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. In the Movie of The Year category, the three aforementioned movies will also face 12 Years A Slave and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

However, winning Best Male Performance won’t be an easy job for DiCaprio, since he’ll have to beat Bradley Cooper, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Josh Hutcherson and Matthew McConaughey for their roles in American Hustle, 12 Years A Slave, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Dallas Buyers Club, respectively.

In the Best Female Performance category, American Hustle star Amy Adams will face Jennifer Aniston for We’re the Millers, Sandra Bullock for her role in Gravity, Jennifer Lawrence and Lupita Nyong’o for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and 12 Years A Slave.

Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams are also facing each other in the category Best Kissing Scene.

The ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien, is scheduled on 13 April in Los Angeles.
