Remember the guy that went to the VMA’s with Miley Cyrus in August? He’s now going to jail. Most people will remember 22 year old Jesse Helt as the guy that made friends with Miley Cyrus and gave a very moving speech at the VMA’s about surviving his stint in a homeless shelter.
After making his big television appearance, he went back home to visit his family in Oregon. Unfortunately, he was arrested as soon as he arrived for violating probation. The probation stems from an arrest in 2010. Helt will have to spend six months in an Oregon jail now, though he has been credited already with serving 57 days of his sentence.
Helt showed up to court dressed casually and his attorney said a lot of good things about him, detailing his difficult childhood and how he was trying to do the best that he could in life. However, the judge was not particularly moved by the statements, and decided to revoke his probation and sentence him to serve a jail sentence.
