Lucille Désirée Ball was a comedienne, model, film and television actress and studio executive. She was the star of sitcoms that appeared in the late fifties and early sixties and that were immensely popular among almost all Americans.

Those sitcoms were the iconic I Love Lucy, The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here’s Lucy and Life with Lucy. She was one of the most popular and influential stars in the United States during her lifetime and had one of Hollywood’s longest careers, spanning over 57 years.

Lucy always kept us laughing and did a marvelous job of hiding her struggle with rheumatoid arthritis at the height of her career. She even had to stop her career for two years because of this vicious illness.
