7. Sam Taylor-Johnson
Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson used to be Sam Taylor-Wood before she directed Nowhere Boy and fell madly in love with Aaron Johnson, a whopping 23 years her junior. Despite being more than twice his age, Sam has claimed that it was Aaron, best known for his leading role in the Kick-Ass movies, who made the decision to start a family.
And unlike many older women who are just looking for casual relationship with younger men, Sam married him and gave birth to their two children. But then again, Sam had enough experience to know exactly what she wanted and didn’t want to waste any time on meaningless relationships.
That, however, doesn’t mean that she wasn’t upset when the press labeled her a cougar. She attacked the media for focusing on the age difference in her relationship and said she didn’t understand what was so controversial about a romance between an older woman and a younger man. Here’s what she said:
‘’In the old days, “controversial” in a relationship meant same-sex or mixed races. Now, it is a woman with a younger man. That would not happen with a man and certainly not with a male director.’’
