Beyonce Day Is Officially Happening In Minnesota

May 23rd was a big day for everyone in the state of Minnesota, and they have Beyonce to thank for that. The celebrity singer visited the TCF Bank Stadium as a part of her Formation tour that is currently taking over America. The state governor, Mark Dayton, was so thrilled that he decided to proclaim an official Beyonce day, in order to celebrate the singer’s arrival.

Though in the proclamation it is clearly stated that only May 23rd, 2016 will in fact be celebrated as Beyonce day, many of the Minnesotans were not happy with this announcement. The coined expression “Happy Bey-Day” wasn’t particularly welcomed either, and it is not quite clear what the governor was hoping to achieve with this little show, but it is safe to say that it didn’t work.

The celebrity singer made no comment about this honor, if it can be called that, but residents of Minnesota were more than happy to express their disagreement with this move, especially because Beyonce isn’t from Minnesota at all, but from Texas.
