Jenny Beavan Doesn’t Mind That The Audience Didn’t Clap For Her

1

Jenny Beavan, the costume designer who did a spectacular job with her work in Mad Max wore jeans and a biker jacket to the Oscars 2016, much to the disapproval of many of the people in the audience. In fact, not only did they not like her outfit, a large number refused to clap for her when she was announced as the winner for the Best Costume Design category.

The list of people who openly showed their disapproval for Beavan’s formal attire include four-time-Oscar-winning director Alejandro Iñárritu, as well as Spotlight director Tom McCarthy. Moreove, many Hollywood celebrities in the video are shown giggling and smiling before raising their hands to belatedly applaud Beavan.

Beavan, on the other hand, has shown an impressive amount of calmness and maturity, refusing to allow her image and the whole situation to be used in the media as a warzone. She insists that she holds no grudges against people who didn’t feel like clapping, and accepts the fact that her outfit, which she says was an homage to the movie, might not have been everyone’s cup of tea. The British designer only hopes that her win makes people realize that looks aren’t everything and that you “don’t have to look like a supermodel to be successful.” Good on you, Jenny!
