Demi Lovato Slapped With Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

Looks like another big name pop star is being sued for copyright infringement, something that’s become a pretty common thing these days.

It was not too long ago that Pharrel Williams and Robin Thicke kad to pay $7.3 million to the family of Marvin Gaye because of the fact that their hit song “Blurred Lines” sounded a little too much like one of Gaye’s old soul hits.

Pop singer Demi Lovato is about to be in that same kind of mess. According to the indie pop band Sleigh Bells, her song “Stars” practically samples one of their own songs.

The lawsuit claims that there are similarities between “Stars” and “Infinity Guitars” by Sleigh Bells that are just too close for comfort and simply can’t be chalked up to a random coincidence.

The good news for Lovato might be that she won’t be the main target of the lawsuit, since she’s not the actual songwriter. Carl Falk and Rami Yacoubwrote the song, Demi just put the vocals over the track, according to reports.

We’ll have to wait and see what the court is going to say.
