Taylor Swift was one of the winners of the Grammys 2016, going home with the awards for the Album of the Year and the Best Music Video, but the highlight of the night was the speech she did after winning the Grammy for 1989.
She came out strong and gave a passionate speech that was feminist through and through but which touched upon something else too. Namely, it was quite obvious that Taylor was addressing Kanye West and the lyrics of his song Famous from his new album. For those of you who are not in the loop with celebrity news, Kanye’s song features the following lyrics:
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex
Why? I made that bitch famous
I made that bitch famous
We can all agree that these are both crass and just nasty. It became even nastier when Yeezy told everyone that he okayed the lines with Taylor, which she claims is a total lie. Of course, now Kanye claims she is the liar and it all gets very complicated and annoying.
In any case, Taylor seized the opportunity and indirectly told Kanye that he can p*** off. Her fame is her own and her success is down to her and the people she loves.
